Mr. Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States of America
I don't usually talk politics or hot topic issues on social media so I debated for a long while on whether or not I would blog about Mr. Donald Trump becoming the President-elect. I finally decided that this is historic and I should be talking about this. So I sat and thought about this subject pretty much all day long trying to figure out how I wanted to articulate my words.
Are we truly surprised it ended like this? I must say, I'm not. What we saw in the American people this year was a want for change. President Obama started that with his campaign in 2009 and it's very much alive and well today. We no longer wanted "politicians" but the "every day man," enter in Mr. Donald Trump and Mr. Bernie Sanders. The second no surprise to me is that we have a Republican in office once again. This is a typical pattern that we often see, one political party will hold the office four to eight years and the opposite party will be fed up with them and come out in masses to vote for their candidate and so their party will hold the office four to eight years and the cycle repeats itself. This process is once again all about the change Americans want to see, and have hope for.
Where did the Democrats go wrong?
- The Democratic vote was not there. The Democrats lost support in the mid-west and around the Great Lakes, as well as in the south east, with exit polls suggesting that men voted Republican in much higher numbers than women.
- Older people voted for Mr. Trump, 65+(53%), 45 - 64 (53%) 30 - 44 (42%) and 18 - 29 (37%).
- Mr. Trump won ten major 'swing" states (Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin, Colorado, Iowa and Nevada).
- White voters made up 70% of the electorate in this years' election.
- 58% Whites voted Republican
- 29% Hispanic voted Republican
- 29% Asians voted Republican
- 8% Blacks voted Republican
- 37% Other voted Republican
- Almost nine in 10 black voters (88%) supported Mrs. Clinton, compared with 8% who opted for Mr. Trump. President Barack Obama secured 93% of the black vote in the 2012 election.
- A smaller proportion of Hispanic votes went to Mrs. Clinton than those who voted for President Obama in 2012.
- The choice of Mrs. Clinton as the party Candidate.
It is my belief that had the Democratic Party chose Bernie Sanders as their candidate he would have won the Presidential Election. I believe he would have pulled in more votes from the white voters. It is also my belief that not so many people actually stood "with" Mr. Trump but rather they were against Mrs. Clinton. Many people voted Republican because the Democrat was "shifty" and someone they couldn't trust.
One of the freedoms that make America so great is that we live in a world of democracy. It's the voice of the people, right? In the real world there are winners and there are losers. The Republicans won this race.
The one thing that really got under my skin today was absolutely all the hate being tossed around. From the snotty gloating comments of "I told you Trump would win" to the terrible names Hillary supports are calling others. The riots that are happening all over our country all because one side simply did not get their way, truly acting like childish toddlers. We live in a free country, you have a right to feel however you want, to say whatever pleases you but I didn't think it would go as low as it has. This is why I have no hope in the American people, not because of who they voted for but because of how they are acting. Ignorance, disrespect, rioting, protesting, etc. Everything Hillary supporters hate Donald Trump for they are being! This has really gotten nasty and it truly makes me sad.
To the protesters and rioters, I just have this to say - You have every right to feel upset about losing the election. You have every right to come together and form groups, committees, rallies, whatever you want, to gain what you want but my question is this, do you have a game plan? Do you know what you are fighting for? Do you know the end result you want to achieve? Why should anyone listen when you are vandalizing city property? What is this teaching our children? Doesn't this contribute to the hate problem? What is yelling in the street going to do without a game plan? Nothing. Mr. Trump will still be President. If you want to see change, then BE the change, but act intelligent about it.
I listened to both Mrs. Clinton's and President Obama's speeches today and if there's one thing I agree with them on it's this "We are supposed to all be on the same team." We are Americans first and we all want what's best for our country. They both asked for supporters to act with grace, pose, and to treat people with respect. It's a shame that a good majority of their supporters aren't listening.
Today we can only move forward. Let us pray that with the political advisors and the Vice President who will surround President Trump daily would be the good influence that he needs. Let us pray that Mr. Trump will be an awesome President because wanting him to fail, is like wanting the pilot to crash the plane that we all are on. Let us pray for President Obama, as he makes the transition out of the White House and hands our nation over. Let us pray for Mrs. Clinton as she continues with life after the Presidential race. Let us pray for our great Nation and it's leaders.
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." - Psalm 33:12
