Hi ya'll! I
figured we'd keep this post fun and light hearted with questions and answers. If you don't know or haven't seen the video posted on Facebook, we're having Twin Girls!!!! We couldn't be more excited!
What themes are you going for in the
nursery?
We don’t necessarily
have a “theme” but the nursery is currently grey and mint and we’re going to stick
with a lot of grey tones. I’ve never been one for a lot of pink, so even though
we’re having two girls we won’t be decking the nursery out in a lot of pink
anything.
What’s your birth plan?
Like with any multiples pregnancy
the birth plan is always up in the air. My hope is that the girls come in late
march on their own without having to be induced and that I will be able to have
them naturally. Carrying twins though, I do run the risk of preterm labor,
placenta problems, fluid problems etc. and so an emergency cesarean section is
always a possibility and shouldn’t been forgotten about. The condition with my
legs also makes it more probable for me to have a c section as they are afraid I
will dislocate or break my hip bones. At this point I’m leaving it in God’s
hands and whatever happens will happen and that will be the birth plan.
Now that you know you’re having girls, have you started
on the nursery?
Like I said, the nursery is
already mint and grey and I don’t think we’ll do much more than that. The
reason is – we are poor haha and we never say no to hand-me-downs or free items
so a lot of our future we received as gifts from friends and they don’t match,
which we’re totally fine with (the babies won’t care). And if we do decide to
have more children we’ll continue to use products we already have, so I would
like a lot of neutral tones so we can reuse if we end up with a boy next.
Are you sleeping more, less, just enough or not enough?
My sleep is terrible right
now and it has nothing to do with the pregnancy. The pregnancy, now that the
morning sickness is over, is going wonderfully. My legs are what keep me up at
night. Rolling over is next to impossible by myself and forget it if I need to
use the restroom. It takes a lot of energy and focus for me to get up in the middle
of the night and then I can’t go back to sleep. So a lot of times, I make the
bathroom trip at 3:00am and can’t fall back asleep until around 6:00am. And of
course that’s when my alarm goes off for work…
Are you still working? If so, how much longer?
Yes, I still work full
time, 40 hours a week. I would like to continue to work for as long as
possible. If my feet do not get better, they will be the reason for me needing
to quit working sooner. My aim is beginning of February but then working from
home until the babies are born in March. I don’t know the future though so we
just take one day at a time. My boss and I are already working to form a plan
now, for just in case I can’t make it to February/March.
What are you using to prevent stretch marks?
HA! I’ve tried everything
from vitamin E to Avon’s stretch mark cream and I still have those nasty
stretch marks. Actually they don’t bother me that much – I just blame the
twins. Vitamin E and the Avon cream are what works best though to keep some at
bay. But anyone who knows me knows that you’ll never get to see them because I
have this weird thing against naked pregnant bellies. I think pregnant women
are beautiful – just keep your oversized naked belly under your shirt. Thanks.
Have you changed your skincare at all since becoming pregnant?
Nope. Still using the Neutrogena
cleanser and Mario Badescu moisturizer and night mask.
When do you feel like your belly finally popped?
That one is really hard to
say. I was overweight when I first got pregnant so I had a bit of a tummy to
begin with but I think it started showing around 12/13 weeks and now it’s
really popped out there and people think I’m pregnant and not just had a big
lunch.
Do you prefer over-the-bump or under-the-bump pants?
Over - definitely.
Maternity pants are literally the best invention ever. I probably will continue
wearing them after the babies are here just because they are so comfortable.
What has been your strangest craving? Are you still
having food aversions?
The only thing I ever
craved was a few weeks back and it was that tri-holiday popcorn that comes in
those tins. I ate it, it’s gone and I haven’t had a craving since. I do tend
have a taste for eggs more often though like when we go out to restaurants. Aversions
are still veggies and meat although I’m starting to be able to eat some veggies
here and there now. Meat is still off the table.
How many children do you guys wants?
I always wanted seven but
that scares Eric – haha. We’re having these two and then we will be trying for
a third. From there the Lord will have to lead.
What has been one thing about pregnancy that has surprised
you?
I don’t think anything has “surprised”
me yet as far as pregnancy. I’m sure that will be different in the 3rd
trimester as we prepare for labor and delivery and then when I go to deliver
the babies – I’m sure I’ll have a ton of surprises for you then. But like I
said earlier the pregnancy is going great, no complaints there!
How have your emotions been?
This is such a hard one for
me to answer! Overall I’m pretty chipper. When I start to remember I have a leg
problem though I become very emotional about it. I don’t know if that’s
hormones or if I would still react the same way if I wasn’t pregnant because I’m
a very independent women who LIKES to do things on her own and now I can’t. I
have to depend on others to help me do everything. And when I said everything,
I mean EVERYTHING. And that hits me hard, so sometimes I cry just because I can’t
walk from my bed to the bathroom or I cry because I can’t straighten my left
knee. I’m emotional – is it because of the pregnancy? Maybe, maybe not….
Are you working out?
The quick answer is no. I
can’t walk – I can’t work out. I do leg exercises to keep my blood in my legs
flowing but other than that, nope.
Is the weight gain hard to cope with?
I’ve been really lucky and
have only gained 10 pounds in these 21 weeks with the twins. So no, the weight
gain is pretty simple for right now. The hard thing is remembering I have a
bump that doesn’t move…so it’s hard to pick things off the floor.
Have you decided on a hospital birth or midwife?
I would love to have a
midwife. Things are much more relaxed in that environment and you don’t have
all those rules. If I was having only one I would be going to a midwife but
since there is two we will be having a hospital birth. The reasons are because
with multiples, more complications can arise, I might need a c section, and
something could be wrong with one or both of the twins and if that happens I
would rather they have their own team rather than only one person trying to
jump back and forth. If anything were ever to happen to my baby because I didn’t
prepare properly I would never forgive myself. I personally would rather be
safe than sorry, even if it’s going to cost an arm and a leg.
What are some of the baby purchases you have made so
far?
We haven’t bought anything.
A neighbor gave us a crib and changing table, my sister-in-law gave us clothes,
my mom and friends have bought a few things specifically for the girls - clothes
wise, another friend is giving us another crib, and we’ve been blessed with a
twin boppy pillow and three bouncers.
What about the baby shower?!
I honestly can’t wait for
it but I wanted to get through the holiday first. Our church is throwing us a
shower in January. I’m terrible though because just like when I got married, I
want to plan my own shower and that’s just because I’m picky about taste. For
instance I don’t want a pink shower even though we’re having both girls, I hate
the theme Dr. Sues Thing 1 and Thing 2, and I don’t like monkeys or jungle
theme… I know, I know I’m picky.
