Only 10 weeks to go!!
Sometimes I cannot believe
how far along I am. 28 weeks, and it seems like just yesterday we were telling
everyone we were pregnant. Aside from sever morning sickness in the first
trimester I haven’t had any more pregnancy complications. PTL
On Tuesday January 16th
we had a growth ultrasound to check on the kiddos and make sure they’re still
growing on track. It was pretty routine with all the pictures they were taking.
They measure their heads, stomachs, lengths of arms and legs and checked their
hearts again. Everything is looking good. Both my little girls weighed 2lbs
9oz, I was kind of shocked by this because Baby B has always been my bigger
baby, but A is definitely keeping up now. Baby B still measures out a little
longer than A but not by much. They are 46th and 47th
percentile. This is great news for us as now our OB is watching to make sure
one or both babies don’t fall behind on the growth charts. Pregnant moms always
worry about their baby and making sure they’re growing on track but with
multiples it’s a different kind of scary. If one twin starts falling behind you
have to make hard decisions to do what’s best for you and babies. Often times
this means early delivery and it could put both babies in jeopardy. I am
thankful we do not have to think about those things yet, but they are always in
the back of my mind.
The Babies are about the
size of tropical coconuts, 2lbs 9oz, about 16 inches long. They continue to
bounce around and possibly kick and punch each other… They are both head down.
Baby A is facing my back, she is in prime position for labor. Baby B is
starting to turn to face my back, she’s currently on her side facing her
sister. We were able to get a good shot of B using the 3D/4D picture, but A was
impossible to get as she really does not like her picture taken.
Here is baby B with her hand in front of her face
How’s mom?
I’m doing ok, still dealing
with the issues in my legs and now lower back aches but hanging in there. My
main goal is to get the 34 weeks, my OB thinks I have a great chance of getting
to 35 – that would bring me to the first week in March. I am really praying
that these babies are born in March and not sooner. In a way, I am sometimes
grateful for my leg problems because it reminds me to take things easy, slow
down, and don’t do too much. Those are ways to keep these babies baking. My
belly is 46inches and I’ve gained my 17th pound this week. My
appetite has certainly increased and my face is looking chubby. I’ve been
blessed to not have gained a ton of weight right off the bat, but also that it’s
really all baby. (I already have 5lbs of baby in me!!!)
I’ve ordered my pump
(Spectra S2 – Hospital strength), signed up to tour the Edwards Birthing
Facility, and picked our pediatrician. Eric and I have some online Multiples
Classes that we’re taking and we need to get that nursery in order. There’s not
much to do except organize really. We get or buy things and it all ends up in
that room and not in a proper place, so it does need to be gone through. I’ve
started working on my birthing plan and getting my ideas together for my
hospital bag. I am so ready to have our little girls here!
We have officially decided
on both their names; however, we are not currently sharing them. There are a
few reasons for this. One, because I don’t care for other people’s opinions
about the names we’ve chosen. That’s their names, end of story. Two, because we
found out the genders we want to keep something as a surprise. And Three, I
personally had a difficult time with the second name. It was hard for me to
find a girl’s name I actually liked that wasn’t as common as Brittany, but wasn’t
weird either. I poured over books, and the internet trying to find the perfect
name. Now that we’ve chosen one – I don’t want to hear people asking why we
chose that name, or did I think of using a different version of that name, etc.
etc. I PROMISE to do a blog post on how we chose the babies names but for now
we’re keeping them a secret. Please be kind.
