Last Pregnancy Update - Week 35

This will probably be my last pregnancy update before the twins get here.

We had our 35 week ultrasound done on Tuesday March 6th. The girls are both still head down and Baby A is way, way low and ready to go. So much so that I’m told if I feel pressure I need to get my booty out the door and to the hospital. My belly is about 50 inches round – yikes! And these girls are just running out of room.

As most of you know our actual due date is April 8th – 40 weeks. Since the beginning we were told we wouldn’t go past 38 weeks (March 25th) because of complications that can arise. I’ve heard horror stories of losing the babies after 38 weeks because of cord issues, placenta problems, etc. I don’t want that to be me. So we had agreed to the 38 week induction. With the scare in week 33 I thought they would be here a lot sooner but after each doctor appointment now they keep saying there’s really no sign of them coming early. Obviously babies come when they’re ready but sometimes there are signs beforehand. My contractions have stopped with the help of my medication and I’ve asked everyone to stop checking my cervix because I don’t want that to start anything again.

This last appointment has caused us to change our birthing plan yet again. Baby B who has been the largest for the majority of the pregnancy has fallen behind on the growth charts. She is now measuring in the 9th percentile at 4lbs7oz. Once a baby drops below the 10th percentile they start talking about a delivery plan. I am happy to say she is healthy and there are no signs of a placenta problem, she’s just literally running out of room to grow. Her sister is measuring 4lbs14oz and is in the 17th percentile. Both of their lungs and hearts look great and so I’m hoping they both reach over 5lbs before delivery to reduce time in the NICU, if at all. I read in the book, "When you're expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads" that multiples actually develop faster than singletons because of some stress hormone that makes them realize they need to speed up the process. Most multiples come out sooner, so they average smaller, but they tend to be larger for their gestation, and their lungs and other organs are supposed to be further along than singleton preemies at the same age. So we shall see…

With all that said we’re looking at an induction date of March 21st – exactly 2 weeks from today! Now that there is kind of a definitive timeline out there for these girls I have to ask that you respect our privacy during this time. I know people get excited and want updates but please be assured that once the girls are here we will let everyone know, there will be plenty of picture sharing, and storytelling, please do not try to contact us on March 21st and get an update. Mommy and Daddy will be very busy (and tired!), we want those special first moments together as a family of four. We will let everyone know when we’re ready for visitors.

Prayer Requests:
  • That I can make it to induction day – the more time the girls spend in the womb the better!
  • Both girls would be over 5lbs on delivery day
  • That the girls would be healthy and not need NICU time
  • Nursing would come easily for the girls – preemies can have a hard time with this.
  • Delivery would be smooth & natural and recovery will be quick!

Free Samples and Offers

I wanted to get this out soon as possible as I know the Holidays are upon us and everyone is looking to save some money this time of year. This post is geared towards parents of multiples but if you have singletons please feel free to reach out to the companies below too for some free samples and offers, but please be aware some offers might not apply to you. If you’re like me then the minute your babies were born you were online looking at deals and ways to save money. I came across a lot of blog posts and articles stating if you contact this company then they will send you this product free. I thought how true is this? So I put them to the test. I took many lists from the internet and combined it into one giant list of baby product companies; I then emailed and mailed each company requesting free samples due to the birth of my twin girls. Below you will find the responses I received. Some companies were great, while others were….off putting. I included coupon codes I found o...

October 6, 2017 - The Whole World Now Knows We Are Pregnant!

Wow. This past week has been crazy. We finally told the world that we’re expecting our babies this coming spring and I’ve receiving nothing but congratulations all week long. I strategically planned out our announcement as I’m not one for personal attention. I tend to shy away and knew I would need a week of a few “congratulations” and hugs here and there before I really started to see people and be overwhelmed by hugs and questions, etc. The internet is different, I have time to respond and think about how I’m going to answer certain questions but when you’re face to face with someone you don’t have a lot of time to think and it at times can make me anxious. Any way the cat is out of the bag and everyone knows now and I’m excited to be sharing my journey now publicly. I love posting pictures and writing updates. Even if people weren’t interested in our story I think it’s a nice keepsake to look back on and remember the journey it took to get to this point and the enjoyment of pregnan...

Wedding Planner - Emergency Bridal Kit

One question I get often as a Wedding Planner is "What is in my Emergency Bridal Kit?" As a built in service for my brides I provide them an Emergency Bridal Kit on the day of their wedding. This kit includes personal care products, first aid, pain relievers, tools - anything you think you MIGHT need on the day of the wedding. These kits are custom made for each bride as no wedding is ever truly the same but most kits have a common core list of items. Because I have a wedding today I thought it would be a great idea to show you what's in Today's Bride's Emergency Kit.  Tools: Pliers Wire Cutters Measuring Tape Screw Drivers of various sizes (Flat Head & Phillips) Hammer  &/or Mallet It's amazing how many times you can say "I wish I had a screw driver or tape measure with me for this..." It's better to just be prepared because you never know what you'll be called to do or what will need some fixing. Personal...
