FAQ About My Twins

Multiples have always been a topic of interest for most people. When they are seen they are ohh'ed and ahh'ed over. If people get a chance there's always a few questions they love to ask. So here you go... Frequently Asked Questions about my Twins and their answers.

  1. Are they twins? Yes.
  2. Are they Identical? No. They are fraternal, meaning they came from two separate eggs fertilized by two separate sperm, aka they look different.
  3. Are they natural? Well this isn't artificial twinning here.
  4. Which one is older? Georgia by a minute if that's important to you.
  5. Do twins run in the family? This question is always hard for me to answer because the short answer is yes, my husband is a twin. The real answer is he doesn't play any part in whether or not we have twins. Every woman in the world has a chance at having identical twins. It's a matter and chance of an already fertilized egg splitting. For fraternal twins, the mother has to release two eggs at the same time.
  6. Did you purposefully make their names match? No. Georgia's name was picked out long before she was even a thought, and Olivia's name was harder to come by. It's by chance they end the same but we did however want the names to complement each other.
  7. Why don't you dress them the same? Because they are individuals and shouldn't have to be the same all the time just because they were born at the same time.
Those are the questions I get asked most. I know they'll have a ton more when they get older, like can you read each others minds and if one gets hurt can the other feel it. Silly. I do hope they have an extremely close and special bond though.

Centerpiece Craft - 4th of July

I've started preparing for my BBQ on July 4th and the first thing I knew I wanted to make was a centerpiece for the table where all the food is going to be laid out. Regardless of what's going on in Washington and who is President right now, I'm a diehard America fan. My father was in the Air Force, I grew up a Military Brat, tons of uncles and aunts and my grandparents have served... and my brother is currently serving the US Air Force so I'm a little obsessed with these patriotic holidays. I think I mentioned before that July 4th is becoming one of my favorites but anyway because of this I'm going all out for this BBQ so let's get into the craft. What You Will Need: A large clear jar or container Pinecones Red, White & Blue spray paint Fun, patriotic sprays 2 Cardboard boxes - to keep the mess to a minimum I found my pinecones about two years ago now from a floral shop on craigslist that was closing. They had thrown out everything and I was there...

Life Update - No April Fools

I sit here in a crowded room filled with papers, knick knacks, Christmas decorations, Wedding Planning materials and more sprawled out everywhere. I worked my last day at the corporate distribution center on Friday. Come Monday I'll be starting in a new-to-me building and it's bitter-sweet. I love the old DC, where there were only about 100 corporate employees there, everyone knew everybody personally and you could have personal items displayed on your desk without fear of something happening to them. With this move, I don't think I will be as lucky... Hence all the random items now laid out in my office.  I'm realizing I'm going to need to make a trip down to the storage unit to put away the boxes that came home from the office. But seeing all my packed up wedding items, I've also been thinking I really need to start promoting my wedding/event planning business. I finally received my event planning certificate in the mail on Thursday of this past week and it ...

Nursery Sneak Peek

We’re still organizing the nursery so I didn't take full pictures of the room but here's a few sneak peek photos of what we have set up so far. Our room isn't really "themed" but it's painted mint and grey and so we kept those colors in mind went we bought accessories.   This is the girls' closet. We were so blessed to have friends and family give us hand me downs on top of all the new clothing items we received from the baby showers. They have more than enough, I just hope I'm able to take pictures of them in everything before they outgrow them!!   This is their changing table (before)  When we had our showers we just put everything up and out of the way but then I realized we needed to get a system going in here so we bought small baskets from the dollar store and were able to organize the little stuff. I actually love the way it came together (and after) Top is their changing pad - cover is from Babies R Us "woodland" them...
