Becoming Vegetarian (for a month…)

This year has been such a rollercoaster for Eric and me. Some good, some bad, a lot of happy times but a lot of sad times as well. I know that I say “Eric and I have been through so much this year” and it’s true we have. I’m sure some people are sick of hearing that exact line and are wondering well what exactly have we been through? Well I’m not comfortable telling our story just yet. Maybe one day when it’s all said and in past will I fully explain everything we’ve been through together as a couple but today is not that day. #sorrynotsorry  With the year being as crazy as it was I’ve gained a lot of weight because of it, 40lbs to be exact. I saw myself get heavier and heavier and I was working out, I bought a Fitbit so I could challenge myself daily to get the steps I needed, but my biggest enemy is food. I love food. I love Chicken. Everything Chicken. Because of this and because of the emotional state I’ve been in I’ve over indulged. This isn’t easy for me to talk about. I

2015 Christmas Letter

2015 was a world wind of adventure for us as the new Mr. and Mrs. Eric Piontkowski. Here is our year in a snapshot… January & February were spent booking a DJ, addressing and sending out invitations, arranging the rehearsal and dinner, selecting Groomsmen attire, ordering small items, thinking of decorating ideas and getting nervous that the wedding is only 3 months away! March was a super exciting time as our youngest nephew, Jaxson Frank Pane, was born. We enjoyed visiting him at the hospital when he was just 2 days old. He’s now 9 months old and is just the cutest! We love spending our time with all three of our nephews. I also celebrated my 26th birthday on the 25th! April was right around the corner from the wedding. We spent this month making sure everything was ready to go, our honeymoon was booked, and vendors were paid. During this crazy time Eric also quit his 10 year career with Advance Auto Parts and started working for the BMW Dealership of Naperville. He en

Julius "Jay" Morton Harden

Who was Julius Harden, or as most people called him Jay? He was as you could imagine like most a father, a brother, a son, a husband, a grandfather, a great grandfather, an uncle etc....But he was SO much more than that.  Julius "Jay" Morton Harden was born March 31, 1927 in Anniston, Alabama to Leonard Horace Harden(29) and Vera Ellen Bell(17). He was the eldest of 10 children and grew up during the Great Depression era so was no stranger to hard work.  He joined the Army Air Core on November 2, 1945 and served his country well during WWII.  He married Ruth Carolyn Belston on September 15, 1951 at 24 years old. She, having been married before, brought to the marriage two sons. He was an instant father, took on that role and loved the boys with all he had. They went on to have three more children together. Two girls and a boy, bringing the total to five.  He was a foster parent. He and his wife Ruth took in numerous children waiting to be placed in permanent homes.

Grow Up!

It’s amazing how much can truly happen to a person in one year. How much they can change and grow. With that said, I will never be done growing, never be done learning, but I can tell I’ve come a long way from where I once have been. So naturally it frustrates me in my fleshly body when someone is not on the same maturity level as I am. I normally do not “vent” on social media but today I’m making an exception only because I hope to educate and put an idea into someone’s head that may never had the thought before. I especially hate it when people start bad mouthing other people. I understand people can be frustrating and annoying. Working as an administrative assistant for more than three years now I’ve had my fair share of frustrations with other people. During this time however; I’ve also learned that those people who are frustrating and annoying 99% of the time do not do it on purpose. I believe people do not genuinely get up every day wondering how they’re going to tick you

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil and its many uses I've been using coconut oil for a long time now and I love it! I use it for almost everything, but my favorite is to use it as a daily lotion. I've noticed my skin is much clearer and more smooth since I've stated lathering it on. I've since used it as a hair mask, massage oil, pulling (swishing it around your mouth to help strengthen teeth and promote gum health), makeup remover base, scrub and substituting it in food. Below is a list that I either have tried, am going to try or health related topics I came across. There are a TON of other uses for coconut oil than just the ones I post. If you type in "Coconut Oil Uses" in the search box google produces more than 3,000,000 results - not to mention the millions of recipes that use coconut oil either in food or to make items such as lotion bars, lip balms, sunscreens etc. Make sure to do your research before buying just any old coconut oil. When using on skin or for diluting o
