Diclegis has been my best friend for the last week. It has taken
the edge off of my morning sickness. I still get queasy but I’m able to
function unlike before. Before I felt like I was walking around with the
stomach flu. I couldn’t keep anything down, was running to the bathroom every
30 minutes, and was really achy… I thought I was dying. I mentioned it to my
nurse as she was taking blood last week and she said she would give me the
Diclegis to see if that would help. It was at this same appointment that we
found out we were having twins and the nurse then said, “No wonder you’re
miserable, you’re having two.” It’s nice to know that I’m having these symptoms
for a reason and I will never take it for granted but man is it uncomfortable!
My next appointment will be August 31st at
11:00am. We’re doing an 8 week ultrasound. There we’ll get to see the babies’
heartbeats again and measure them to make sure they’re still growing like they
should. I always get really nervous before doctor appointments because of
course I don’t want to know if there’s something wrong. Luckily nothing has
come up yet. My Dr. said at 6 weeks we have a 93% chance of having a healthy
twin pregnancy and once we hit week 8 our chances of miscarriage goes down to
1%. I’m praying week 8 comes quickly! I’m 7w2d right now and actually I’m
waiting for the dr. office to call me back with my blood work results from this
morning. Nerve wracking to say the least. It’s times like these that I’m so
glad I have a full time job to keep my mind occupied and I don’t have time to
dwell on the what if’s.
I told my pastor this past Sunday that we were having twins and
he’s just ecstatic (he also has twins my age). He told me “now that is a
hospital visit I can’t wait to make!” At this point we haven’t told too many
people. By the time this gets posted on my blog we’ll be well into the
pregnancy and the announcement will have been made but for now I like that only
a very small group of people know. It’s one of the most fun secrets to have.
