August 3, 2017 - 2nd Beta Results

Today has been a crazy day for us. It was my second beta test and the number came back at 1309! This is why I wanted to double check what the first number was because if it was only 95 then it jumped 13x the amount, not just doubled. But if she said 695 then it would be right on track for doubling.

The crazy part of the day and the thing we were most worried about was Eric’s Dad’s triple bypass heart surgery. His surgery was scheduled at 2:00pm. They started about 2:30 and didn’t finish until after 9:00pm. We learned that his heart was much worse than they originally thought. They got him opened and realized his heart is pumping at about 10% and they were only able to do one bypass and not the other two. As most people know surgeons aren’t the best at bedside manner, they usually tell it how it is. The Surgeon kept saying if he wakes up… so that all had us extremely nervous. Eric was at the hospital all day with his dad. I think he got home about 1:00am. I hadn’t been sleeping well so I heard him come in. He didn’t say anything, just gave me a kiss and held my hand as he laid down to sleep. This made me cry and pray. I prayed every chance I could and every moment I woke up. I needed him to make it through the night. I was also trying to remain calm as I know I shouldn’t be under a lot of stress. I do have another life to watch out for now.

Update: I’m happy to report he is still with us and doing much better. He still has a long road ahead of him because they were not able to completely fix the issues going on the first time. So it’s a matter of recovering from this surgery and then seeing what’s next.

Free Samples and Offers

I wanted to get this out soon as possible as I know the Holidays are upon us and everyone is looking to save some money this time of year. This post is geared towards parents of multiples but if you have singletons please feel free to reach out to the companies below too for some free samples and offers, but please be aware some offers might not apply to you. If you’re like me then the minute your babies were born you were online looking at deals and ways to save money. I came across a lot of blog posts and articles stating if you contact this company then they will send you this product free. I thought how true is this? So I put them to the test. I took many lists from the internet and combined it into one giant list of baby product companies; I then emailed and mailed each company requesting free samples due to the birth of my twin girls. Below you will find the responses I received. Some companies were great, while others were….off putting. I included coupon codes I found o...

Centerpiece Craft - 4th of July

I've started preparing for my BBQ on July 4th and the first thing I knew I wanted to make was a centerpiece for the table where all the food is going to be laid out. Regardless of what's going on in Washington and who is President right now, I'm a diehard America fan. My father was in the Air Force, I grew up a Military Brat, tons of uncles and aunts and my grandparents have served... and my brother is currently serving the US Air Force so I'm a little obsessed with these patriotic holidays. I think I mentioned before that July 4th is becoming one of my favorites but anyway because of this I'm going all out for this BBQ so let's get into the craft. What You Will Need: A large clear jar or container Pinecones Red, White & Blue spray paint Fun, patriotic sprays 2 Cardboard boxes - to keep the mess to a minimum I found my pinecones about two years ago now from a floral shop on craigslist that was closing. They had thrown out everything and I was there...

Life Update - No April Fools

I sit here in a crowded room filled with papers, knick knacks, Christmas decorations, Wedding Planning materials and more sprawled out everywhere. I worked my last day at the corporate distribution center on Friday. Come Monday I'll be starting in a new-to-me building and it's bitter-sweet. I love the old DC, where there were only about 100 corporate employees there, everyone knew everybody personally and you could have personal items displayed on your desk without fear of something happening to them. With this move, I don't think I will be as lucky... Hence all the random items now laid out in my office.  I'm realizing I'm going to need to make a trip down to the storage unit to put away the boxes that came home from the office. But seeing all my packed up wedding items, I've also been thinking I really need to start promoting my wedding/event planning business. I finally received my event planning certificate in the mail on Thursday of this past week and it ...
